We know privacy policies can be long and confusing, so we have kept this one short and clear. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we need it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, just email us.
What we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email, username, and password. While you use CVMate, you add CVs, cover letters, job applications, interview recordings if you choose to record, and any notes. We also see which pages and features you use, along with basic device and browser information, so we can keep things running smoothly. We do not ask for more than we need, and we only keep data for as long as you have an account or as required by law.
Why we collect it
We use your information to provide the service, keep your account secure, fix bugs, and improve features. We may send you important emails about your account. If you opt in to marketing emails, we will occasionally send career tips and product updates. We process your CV content only so you can edit, tailor, and export it. For example, we use your email to log you in and to send password resets; we use usage data to spot crashes and decide which features to improve next.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your CVs, applications, or interview details with employers, recruiters, or data brokers. We do not use your content to train generative AI models for anyone else. We also do not show ads based on your personal information, and we do not buy extra data about you from outside sources. And we do not build a hidden profile of you outside CVMate.
Third parties we use
We rely on a small number of trusted providers for hosting, email delivery, payments, and aggregated usage analytics. Analytics cookies are disabled until you accept them. These providers only receive the minimum data they need to do their job, and we do not allow them to use your data for their own purposes.
Your controls
You can export, edit, or delete your content at any time from your account settings. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails with one click, and you can delete your account, which permanently removes your personal content within 30 days. If you are in the European Union, you also have rights under GDPR, including the right to access and portability; just email us and we will handle your request.
